THE CLINIC

The clinic was established in 1995 by Richard Smith with the aim to provide individualised diagnosis and treatment to the people of Marlborough and the surrounding areas. Richard, AKA Rick the Click, has run Marlborough Chiropractic Clinic for 25 years. In Autumn 2020, Richard stepped back from his clinic duties to enjoy a well earned retirement and spend more time on all of his hobbies! Here at Marlborough Chiropractic Clinic, our goal is to coach and support our patients to make long lasting changes to promote their wellness health and potential, and get them back to doing what is important to them!

SOPHIE PAKENHAM
(D.C., MChiro)

Sophie graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic and moved back to the Swindon area where she has worked since. Sophie first became interested in Chiropractic when she accompanied her parents at their appointments and later when she underwent treatment following a trampolining injury. This showcased a different form of care that could help improve people’s quality of life, irrespective of their age, allowing them to get back to the things they love.

Sophie has seen a wide variety of conditions during training and since qualifying. She takes a particular interest in the management of pregnancy related conditions, hypermobility disorders and the effect of nutrition on musculo-skeletal complaints and healing. Sophie is keen to encourage patients to take an active role in their care including lifestyle modifications and exercise to complement their care.

In addition to her university training, Sophie has completed training in a number of other techniques including dry needling, Sacro-Occipital Technique, taping, nutritional training and chiropractic care with children.

Sophie is a member of the British Chiropractic Association and Royal College of Chiropractors.

Josh graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic after being inspired to become a chiropractor when he sustained a shoulder injury during martial arts training. His first hand experience of the benefits of chiropractic care sparked a passion for helping others recover from injury and return to doing what they love.

Josh has treated a whole host of different patients from 18 year old surfers to 80 year old golfers. He takes a particular interest in sporting and workplace based injuries. He is also a firm believer in the long term benefits of rehabilitation programs alongside chiropractic care.

When he’s not practicing chiropractic Josh is likely supporting his local football team Bristol city or practicing mixed martial arts.

Rosie graduated from AECC University College and has a background in mental health and as a qualified yoga teacher. She developed a passion for chiropractic through witnessing the transformative effects of movement and holistic care to restore function and build confidence.

Rosie has worked with a wide variety of patients, and  has a particular interest in supporting older adults to maintain mobility and independence, as well as TMJ dysfunction and headaches. Her approach combines chiropractic care with movement and rehabilitation to promote long-term recovery and resilience.

Outside the clinic, Rosie enjoys running, yoga, strength training, and long walks with her Labrador, Nelson. Originally from the New Forest, she is delighted to be part of the Marlborough community and explore its surroundings.

Joanne
Clinic Assistant

Joanne joined the clinic team in February 2024 after living overseas for many years. She has worked in the Medical Industry over in Cyprus and loved being around the public and helping people feel their best!

Joanne enjoys travelling and often nips back to see friends in Cyprus as well as quality time with the family here in England and walking the dog.

Sam
Clinic Assistant

Having already been a patient of Sophie’s for a number of years, Sam joined Marlborough Chiropractic Clinic in 2021 as Sophie’s much-needed receptionist. This was a complete career change for Sam, who has spent nearly 30 years in the automotive manufacturing sector, so is no stranger to the odd ache or pain!

Sam will be our friendly face at the front desk and your first point of contact for appointments and general queries.

In her spare time she enjoys weekend festivals, going to the theatre and spending as much time as possible outdoors with her two English Springer Spaniels, Chester & Bailey.
